Here I will be posting useful videos for you to watch if you are interested. Many of them will be featuring a man named Ray Mears who is a British survival expert. He does things simply and effectively, which is the best way to do most things.

Here is a short video on how to make a lean-to, especially good in Canadian forests.

Here is one showing the best way to light a fire using a fire steel. We will be doing this on our hiking trip so it may be good to watch. The video is really short.

Here is a great video showing how to light a fire with a bowdrill. It takes loads of practice (and stubbornness) but when you actually do it....nothing feels as good. If you spend your whole time during the camp skills day on the hiking trip working on this skill I would not complain!

When out for a walk in the woods it is possible to light a fire and have a lovely meal if you know how... Check out this video.
