Hi Everyone,
In this section you will find information that will help you prepare for the hiking trip.
Sept 18th
To be successful on a trip and also to be happy you must be sure to bring good food. To do this you need to plan your menus beforehand. You also need to make sure that your portion sizes are accurate so you are not carrying extra food or too much garbage.
Once you guys have planned out your daily menu I would like you to send me a picture of that menu so I can add it to the blog for all to see. Helping each other eat well will make the group happier and safer.
Sept 19th
Here is the clothing list for the trip. Follow these suggestions for how to dress well, but be aware that you will be carrying everything so do not be tempted to bring too much gear.
Here are 2 menus to check out in preparation for the hiking trip:
Sept 24th
In order to be comfortable on the Hiking trip [Oct 15-17] you should know the basics for lighting both the MSR stoves and fires. This is what we will be covering in class on the 24th. Please look over the documents beforehand.
Sept 26th
Weather permitting (forecast is good at the moment) we will be setting up tents outside so everyone can see how to do it. We will also check the tents for damage and missing parts. Please be on time for this as it does take a while to setup and take down. If we are not in the classroom we will be on the grass outside the end of the Tech Wing.

October 2nd
Today we will be talking about various types of shelter that can be built in a survival situation.
October 3rd
In order to make a shelter more durable and long lasting it is helpful to know a few good knots. Practicing some of these would be a good idea. Especially once we start lashing branches together on the canoe trip.
